Based in Somerset, Mark Butterfield Furniture provides top quality, classic handmade furniture and joinery such as hand built kitchens, bedrooms, studies, snugs, offices, utility and boot rooms together with individual pieces such as dressers, island units, tables and stools.
As you browse through our website we will show you examples of traditional kitchens in solid oak, pippy oak, and limed or misted oak, contemporary kitchens in modern maple, farmhouse kitchens with rustic finishes, and simple hand painted kitchens, with worktops in Corian, Slate or Granite. You will also find a variety of bedrooms, studies, offices, utility rooms and other items of furniture and joinery.

Unlike most other furniture making companies and kitchen manufacturers, we don’t have a pre-designed range of furniture for you to choose from. We can of course provide you with examples of our previous projects and ideas, but we will be working from scratch to prepare a design especially for you, the way you want it.
Because every piece of furniture is unique to you, all designs are hand drawn.
Our furniture is built to last, so we use only the best quality materials such as solid wood, real wood veneers and birch plywood. We don’t use materials such as chipboard or MDF even for painted furniture, door panels or carcusing. Our worktops are Granite, Corian, Marble or Slate.
Our furniture is hand-built by craftsmen, so we offer quality such as dovetailed joints and hand painted finishes as standard.
If you are interested in a piece of furniture Mark will visit you personally. He will measure, sketch details, take a note of any period features, get a feel for the ambience you wish to create and talk through possibilities. We are equally happy to produce furniture which replicates mouldings from your existing antique pieces or architecture, or provide something of complete contrast.
If you have your own designer, Mark will be happy to work with them. If not, we will carry out the design work with you. Mark will help you to decide what you want, what you absolutely must have and how you want to live with the furniture, so we can help you create an environment you can enjoy for years.
Mark remains your ‘main point of contact’ right from the initial visit, through the design and manufacturing process, and then through to the installation of your furniture, he will arrange every detail of the build, and if you wish, co-ordinate the installation with your own builder, plumber, electrician or decorator.
To employ our services to provide you with a complete, top quality hand built kitchen, designed, manufactured and installed just for you, including appliances, worktops in solid Granite, Slate or Corian, and all finishing touches such as final hand painting, door furniture etc, cost from as little as £20,000.
Prices for the design, production and installation of wardrobes and bookcases start at about £3,000. If you have a specific project or piece of furniture in mind, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your plans with you, visit your property and provide a detailed quote.
Our company is based in Somerset, so we happily travel to clients in Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, North Somerset, and Bath & North East Somerset on a regular basis. We have however also undertaken work in areas such as London and Oxford so are also happy to travel to South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, West Berkshire, Windsor and Maidenhead and Buckinghamshire.
