Contemporary Kitchen
The grand hexagonal turret at the entrance to our client's home was the inspiration for the angled doors of the huge island unit that houses the range cooker, integrated dishwasher, wine cooler and pull out bin, as well as five useful storage cupboards. The angular design was then carried through with angled pillars and glazed wall units placed at right angles with the window.
The shiny black and silver granite complements the modern stainless steel and black appliances whilst contrasting with the white marble floor. The whole kitchen being tied together with the pale warmth of maple units.
Although this is a large kitchen, it still needs to work with the client's lifestyle and make maximum use of space. The coffee machine has been built on the end of the run, joining onto a structural pillar and providing fresh coffee for an informal seating area. The space to the side of the coffee machine is therefore limited to a few inches. Rather than breaking the flow of units and covering this area with end panels, we provided a full height cupboard to house a racking system suitable for herbs and spices, matches and other smaller items that often get lost in the back of larger kitchen cupboards.
